Our Story

For the past six years, Eric and Victoria Guarino have embarked on global journeys, immersing themselves in distant lands while embracing a rich tapestry of cultures, both familiar and foreign. Their experiences have spanned a wide range, from studying alongside indigenous families in the Amazonian Rainforest, to Argentine asados against the backdrop of jagged peaks in Patagonia, and finding solace in Indonesia's sacred temples.

The impact of these travels have been profound. For Victoria, they have invoked a cherished return to her spirited upbringing in Puerto Rico and Argentina. These memories, in turn, have rekindled a connection to the rhythmic pulse that embodies Latin American culture and the deep-rooted essence of her ancestral heritage—a profound reconnection to the wisdom of Mother Earth and herself.

Conversely, for Eric, these explorations signified a departure from his decade-long immersion in the world of corporate real estate, which had left him feeling hollow and in pursuit of deeper meaning. These travels left an indelible mark on his soul as he bore witness, firsthand, to the direct correlation between his profession and the undeniable effects on melting glaciers in locations from the Eastern Sierras of California to Andes Mountains of Peru, and the European Alps.

It was amidst these transformative journeys that the concept of CASALMA took root within their hearts. This dream aims to intricately weave together humanity and nature, paying homage to all the people and places they have encountered along the way. Many hands build CASALMA, and it stands as an offering, extending an open invitation to all, regardless of origin or means. A space designed for the gathering of community—where food and fire act as unifying forces, facilitating connections and invoking the poignant reminder that nurturing the world around us inherently nurtures the world within us.
